
World Games 2015 | Los Angelis USA

In July 2015, Special Olympics Malta proudly participated in the 14th Special Olympics World Summer Games held in Los Angeles, USA. The Maltese delegation, comprising 22 athletes, competed across six disciplines: athletics, aquatics, bocce, bowling, artistic gymnastics, and table tennis. Their dedication and hard work culminated in an impressive haul of 24 medals: 7 gold, 10 silver, and 7 bronze.
Maltese athletes delivered outstanding performances, with gymnast Nathalie Galea securing multiple golds. Enrique Xerri and Matthew Bugeja also shone in gymnastics. In swimming, Shanaia Zammit and Charmaine Mifsud claimed gold. Alec Falzon, just 11 years old, earned two bronze medals in athletics. The team’s achievements were a powerful demonstration of skill, perseverance, and national pride.
