National Games 2024
The Special Olympics Malta National Games 2024, held from September 12 to 15, brought together over 600 athletes with intellectual disabilities from Malta, North Macedonia, the United Arab Emirates, and Cyprus. Hosted at the SportMalta complexes in Cottonera and Marsa, the event featured competitions in five disciplines: athletics, swimming, football, bocce, and table tennis. The theme, "The Champion Within Us," celebrated the resilience and determination of every participant, emphasizing inclusivity and unity through sport .
Beyond the competitions, the Games incorporated health and educational initiatives, including the Healthy Athletes program offering free health screenings, and the Motor Activity Training Program (MATP) for athletes with profound disabilities. The 'Young Athletes' program also engaged children aged 3 to 8, promoting early inclusion in sports.
